This feature is kind of dangerous, as if some editor has it checked
and admin has to restore database from backup, the editor is notified about each importet article. In this case importing TOL database causes immediate overloading of our mailserver. In my opinion users should have the right to set about that events he wants to be informed and in that case this way of sending notifications is bad. So for 2.x I have no objections, but for 3.x or 4.x I would prefer to change these notifications.
In my opinion it would be fine to create a simple batch file campsite_backup.sh which would export/import the database with proper locks settings.
